National Institute of Technology Manipur, a centrally funded institution is set up to impart quality technical education at various levels of higher learning. It is one of the ten new NITs established and developed as an Institute of National Importance by an act of Parliament. NIT Manipur started its first session with the three branches of Engineering-Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering and Computer Science Engineering. The functioning of the institute was started at its temporary Campus at Takyelpat, Imphal under the mentorship of NIT, Agartala. The Institute has acquired 341 acres of land in the lush green areas of Langol, Imphal and started its functioning at its permanent campus since 2014. This Institute now has all five branches of Engineering viz CSE, EEE, ECE, Civil, Mechanical and Basic Sciences and Humanities Department and open courses on B. Tech., M. Tech., M. Sc. and Ph. D.

The Department of Chemistry at NIT Manipur is an important academic and research center dedicated to providing quality education and promoting scientific research in chemical sciences. The department offers strong foundational training in core areas such as organic, inorganic, physical, and analytical chemistry, supporting the academic development of undergraduate and postgraduate students. With well-equipped laboratories and experienced faculty members, the department encourages students to engage in research activities and innovative projects. It also promotes a culture of seminars, workshops, and collaborations to enhance learning beyond the classroom. Overall, the Department of Chemistry at NIT Manipur plays a key role in nurturing skilled professionals and contributing to scientific growth in the region

Manipur University (a Central University) is a teaching- cum affiliating University with more than 30 full-fledged Departments and 108 affiliated colleges and institutes. The University located at Canchipur has its captivating campus spread over an area of 287 acres, with the ancient palace of Manipur overlooking the lusty greeneries in and around the campus. With vibrant teaching and stimulating research activities, the Chemistry Department stands out as the epicenter of academic activities in the University. The Chemistry Department recently joined the exclusive club of Departments in the country funded by DST, New Delhi, under the FIST program. The Department is also initiating a ‘summer intern- ship’ program under the FIST project to enable a few motivated Chemistry majors from affiliated colleges to work on some projects during their summer breaks. Many talented postgraduate and Doctoral alumni continue to spread all over the country and beyond, occupying important positions, galvanizing the MU-CAA and keeping its flag flying high.

About the CRSI

The Chemical Research Society of India (CRSI) is a prestigious scientific organization dedicated to promoting excellence in chemical research and education across the country. Established in 1999, CRSI brings together researchers, academicians, and industry professionals to foster collaboration, share knowledge, and advance the frontiers of chemical sciences. The society organizes annual conferences, workshops, and lectures that provide a platform for scientists to present their work and exchange innovative ideas. It also recognizes outstanding contributions through various awards and fellowships, encouraging high-quality research among young scientists and established professionals alike. Through its activities, CRSI plays a vital role in strengthening India’s scientific community and supporting the nation’s progress in chemical research and innovation.

About the Conference

Learn More

With the ambitious goal of transforming the country into a developed Nation by 2047, the New Education Policy NEP-2020 envisages imparting more innovations and practical skills besides the conceptual competence in teaching and learning of science in general and Chemistry in particular. Chemical Sciences being the cornerstone of science, technology, and industry, play pivotal roles in the development of a nation. It, therefore, opens up more challenges for Chemistry professionals to deliberate on developing more innovative ways of teaching and learning of chemistry and conducting more pertinent research at the higher educational institutes in the country, including the State of Manipur. The Conference will provide the right forum to address these challenging issues. Keeping these objectives in perspective, NIT Manipur and Manipur University are jointly organizing the National Symposium on Current Progress in Chemical Sciences (CPCS-2026) during January 29-30, 2026, at the Department of Chemistry, NIT Manipur. The Conference will feature talks by invited resource persons who will deliberate on the recent developments in the frontiers of Chemistry and Chemistry related areas. It will also provide an opportunity for the young researchers of the University to showcase their

recent findings in the form of oral or poster presentations.

The Conference will be held in hybrid mode and will broadly cover, but not be limited to, the following areas:

Topics

Material Science/ nano sciences

Biological Chemistry

Radichemistry

Spectroscopy

Theoretical And Computational Chemistry
